You know you want to meet alpacas, right? Who doesn’t?

A four photo collage with a beautiful flower garden around a sign that reads Justorian Alpacas in the top left, a vertical shot of a medium brown baby alpaca, then a close up of the face of a black alpaca, and finally a picture of two standing alpacas and a white baby alpaca lying down in the field.
Just a few of the friendly alpaca faces you’re likely to see on a visit to Justorian Alpaca.

We’re fortunate to have Justorian Alpacas just about a 30 minute drive from our Eau Claire home in Osseo, Wisconsin. Jerry and Wendy Campbell, the owners of Justorian Alpacas, are two of the nicest people you might ever meet. They are very kind and welcoming and it’s obvious they love what they do. You will learn all kinds of things about alpacas visiting Justorian Alpacas and likely leave with your new favorite socks or mittens!

Also, if you’re in the Eau Claire area, we have a collection of posts that will shape your visit to be the best it can be. For an overview of some local favorites, check out this post. For popular summer activities, check out our posts on a local farmer’s market, pizza farm, burger farm, or strawberry picking. For later summer or fall visits, check out our post on an area sunflower field or apple picking experiences.

Visiting Justorian Alpacas

Justorian has a farm location just outside of Osseo as well as a charming store right in downtown Osseo. If you’re shopping for alpaca products, the store is a great stop. But, if you’re also hoping to glimpse the beautiful alpacas in addition to your shopping, then you’ll want to visit the farm and on site store.

The Justorian Alpacas farm is just north of Osseo on McCuen Road. They warn that map services struggle with their address so specifically suggest you access McCuen Road from County Road NN or County Road R to avoid a frustrating experience being routed to the wrong location.

Alpacas have some of the cutest faces we have seen!

Visiting Justorian Alpacas is an activity that is very family-friendly and can be enjoyed by all ages.

Our Experience Visiting Justorian Alpacas

The drive to Justorian Alpacas itself is an enjoyable experience. As is the case throughout this area of Western Wisconsin, you will enjoy rolling hills and farm scenes from quiet county roads.

We have had the honor of visiting Justorian Alpacas several times. The experience is always pleasant, but can vary based on the time of day and the needs of the alpacas.

One day, we were lucky enough to be there at a time that we were able to experience feeding them. Other times, we have simply observed them and pet them when they came close enough to allow this. (They always come close enough if Jerry or Wendy are with you though because they clearly love them or at least know they feed them!)

A three photo collage of us with alpacas starting in the top left with a selfie of Angie with a dark brown alpaca, then a full-length photo of Jeff standing next to and petting a dark brown alpaca, and finally a photo of Jeff feeding an alpaca with a shocked expression on his face with farm owner, Jerry in the background.
We love visiting these friendly creatures. Jeff’s face in the bottom is surprise at how friendly they are and not fear.

When we talk about our visits to others, here are a few common questions we have heard:

Will alpacas bite you?

Alpacas are gentle animals and will not harm you intentionally unless you are being mean to them. It might be comforting to note that alpacas only have teeth on the bottom of their jaw.

Will the alpacas spit on me?

Again, generally no. Alpacas may occasionally give a “chuff” and spit toward each other, but they seldom spit on humans. Alpacas are generally less aggressive than llamas which is where the spitting is typically more well-known.

What does it feel like to pet an alpaca?

Alpacas are extremely soft. If you ever felt a cashmere scarf it’s soft like that when petting an alpaca.

Alpaca Shopping Opportunities

As we mentioned previously, there is a lovely store of Justorian Alpacas products right in downtown Osseo. There’s also one right on site at the farm.

I (Angie) bought my favorite pair of travel compression socks in their store. My feet can get sweaty and therefore a bit smelly when traveling and these socks do a fantastic job of keeping my feet dry and odor down. Did I mention they are soft and cozy! So cute and colorful, too!

A four photo collage starting on the top left with a close up photo of two feet in striped socks of bright pink, lime green, and turquoise, then an outside photo of the Justorian Alpacas store with a US flag waving on the light pole, then an inside photo of the store showing two women at the checkout register surrounded by racks of socks and various alpaca yarn items, and finally a close up of the door showing the store hours of Saturday from 10-5 or Sunday from 11-4 or by appointment.
My cute and colorful alpaca compression socks that I bought at Justorian Alpacas and the store in downtown Osseo.

I also bought a pair of really beautiful everyday socks with intent to keep my feet warm in the cold Wisconsin winters. I absolutely loved them as well, but note their care instructions carefully. I accidentally dried them in the dryer a few times before realizing that wasn’t in the care instructions and created a beautiful pair of children’s socks that no longer fit my feet from that pair. I have plans to go back soon and replace them and not dry them this time!

The shop also has adorable mini alpacas so you or your little one can take your own mini alpaca home with you. They also offer an array of beautiful, soft, cozy hats and mittens. You can find great gifts for people in your life or yourself here for sure.

Is Justorian Alpacas Worth Visiting?

Absolutely!

It is important to ensure they are open on the day and time you plan to visit, but this is one of our favorite Western Wisconsin experiences.

Wisconsin is known for farms, primarily dairy farms, but it’s a really special experience to learn about another aspect of farming in this beautiful state!

You can plan a full Western Wisconsin itinerary of different farm experiences starting with Justorian Alpacas and continuing on to our other area farm posts by visiting a pizza farm, burger farm, strawberry farm, flower farm, and apple farms!
